Cuban Salsa Rueda

Beginner Bachata Rueda

Cuban Salsa & Rueda de Casino

Bachata Rueda is bachata danced in a circle of couples. A caller guides the moves and partner changes. Our beginner bachata class starts from the basics, so you can join without any dance experience.

Rueda de Casino is Cuban salsa danced in a circle of couples, with lively music and plenty of shared laughs. One person calls out the moves, everyone follows together, and you change partners as you go.

What you’ll learn with us

Bachata comes from the Dominican Republic. We begin with its three steps and a tap, then build simple moves and partner changes into the circle. You’ll practise step by step and get to know the people you dance with.

A good starting point if: you’ve never danced before, or want to learn bachata from the beginning.

No partner or dance experience needed. Mistakes are part of learning.

What you’ll build on

The dance grew out of Cuba’s social dance clubs in the 1950s. Rueda means “wheel” in Spanish—a fitting name for the moving circle.

The fun is in doing it together: a turn, a new partner, and that little buzz when the whole group gets a move right. If a step goes astray, we have a laugh and carry on. It’s a lovely way to enjoy the music and get to know a few new faces.

A good next step if: you know salsa basics and want to develop your confidence dancing Rueda with a group.
